the right direction

We are tired and happy. Tired because it has been a long busy week, and Doug has such a low red blood cell count even after 3 Procrit shots, I have 2 more shots to give him tomorrow and then we need to test his levels tomorrow morning to see if he needs the second one. So my nursing is coming in handy, at least in the injection department, two shots a day for the weekend. So it will be a reparative weekend.
we met with Dr Lodi today and found out that Doug's PET scan had shown significant improvement in both the size and aggressiveness of his tumors. Many of the abdominal, pelvis, tracheal, and retroperitoneal tumors are gone or shrunken down to sizes so small that his body can heal them on its own. His most aggressive tumors (much more aggressive than we had imagined) are reduced to normal size and near normal metabolic activity. His spleen is healing substantially, The tumor that was in his right chest has shrunken to 5mm from 2.5 cm and is almost normal as far as metabolic activity goes. His spleen which had at least five tumors in it now has only one and while it is enlarged from what it was its aggressiveness is less that half of what it was. He still has a lesion behind his heart that has enlarged more but it is almost normal as far as activity goes, he also has new tumor in his left chest which is still quite aggressive so he will be in treatment for a while longer but today's good news buoyed up our spirits and let us know that we are headed in the right direction.
A bonus for me today was talking to some of the staff about the work that I love. They told me that what I did was what they needed there as a resource for the clients. So I passed around my resume, a copy of my article and a copy of the wellness model. so we shall see if there might be a future chance for me to bring my talents to the table there, as God wills it.
