We have lift off!

Doug's body is back on track with his gut doing it's job. Today we see if his white count is high enough for a colonic or whether he needs more Neupegen. I am hoping for a fun day of learning how to make "rice" out of various veggies. I already made a Spanish rice mix out of cauliflower and fresh corn yesterday that was pretty good. I also made chili rellanos and whipped up a spicy tomato dressing for the whole thing, very yummy for supper last night.
I would love to be a pleasant happy face at the clinic today, not a withdrawn, worried and frustrated, second guessing wife who doesn't feel like engaging with anyone but my husband (who would rather that I just left him alone). So I am going to be happy and helpful today. And most of all I am going to be grateful, grateful for the opportunity to be able to be present for Doug without being encumbered by a regular job, grateful for a family that supports and encourages me from afar, grateful for Doug's family here who call and stop by just enough to let us know that they are there and that they are thinking of us and praying for us, grateful for friends who not only love me madly but who made it possible for me to own a home in a place where Doug and I can heal from this ordeal in the beauty of the mountains and canyons down south of the city, not only that they are also living there for awhile and that puts my mind at ease about the property. I am also grateful for friends who love up on my puppy and who take him for his favorite activity- playing in the park, something that I don't have the energy or inclination for. I am also grateful for the opportunity to make such life affirming changes to our lifestyle and to be able to spread the good news. We are both thankful for all the folks who are sending prayers and healing energies our way. So we are off to see the wizard, or at least all the other munchkins that are sharing this journey with us at the Oasis of healing.
