Day 10

I am going to have work backwards for awhile here. Today is the 10th day of a 21 day juice feast, an interesting name for fasting while drinking quart mason jars full of kale, spinach, dandelion, cucumber, celery, parsley juice, with an occasional green apple thrown in for sweetness. The resulting formula is decidedly green, hence the moniker "green juice". We have been drinking this awesome concoction as part of Doug's treatment for large B cell, T cell rich lymphoma and prostate cancer.
My reasons for joining Doug on this feast/fast is my inherent laziness, I don't want to cook for one and prepare juice for the other, and the fact that the act of drinking 2 years worth of vegetables in 3 weeks appealed to me for some strange masochistic reason.
Let me inform the uninformed, when nothing but green juice goes in.....nothing but green juice comes out. This phenomenon makes for an interesting and often uncomfortable increased awareness of body parts usually not in the forefront of ones consciousness, but not something that a couple of sitz baths won't calm.
As a result of this endeavor, I now weigh less than I have in 15 years and Doug is at his college weight. Both of us sleep better and many niggling little body annoyances have fallen off of the radar.
The reason behind the fast/feast is to rest the digestive system, a major part of the immune system, while providing whole nutrition to the body and turning off what our physician calls unhealthy appetites. Those appetites as far as I can report are for large hamburgers with cheese and bacon, loaves of cinnamon toast with pounds of butter and chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream frosting with potato chips. Apparently all those appetites are for addictive foods that are unhealthy for you. They are also animal based foods as opposed to plant based foods.
More on the dietary component of our adventure later. We have to hurry out the door so that Doug can have his blood removed ( I think it is just a pint) pumped full of ozone and then dripped back in to him, in an effort to assault the cancer cells with their nemesis, Oxygen. He will also be receiving various and sundry intravenous solutions to protect his healthy cells while targetting his naughty cells.
